St Mary and St Cuthbert Chester le Street parish church |
William was christened on the 22 March 1706 at Chester le Street. At the time of his baptism, William's family lived in Lumley. Greater Lumley is just a few miles south east of Chester le Street. |
|
Another Greensitt family, headed by Thomas Greensitt, as lived at Lumley at this time. The parish register entries for William's three chrildren do not give their mother's name but each entry says that the family lived in Lumley. Another Greensitt family was also living in Lumley at this time. Robert Greensitt had four sons baptised at Chester le Street between 1739 and 1744. It is likely that William and Robert were brothers. All four of Robert's sons married and had children baptised at Chester le Street.
William married Elizabeth and had a son James (1765). |
Robert and Thomas Greensitt headstone 1735, Chester le Street |
It is likely that Ann Greensitt never married as there is a burial entry for an Ann Greensitt aged 80 on 11 November 1815 at Chester le Street. She was living at Pelton at the time of her death.
