Edwin John Trimmer Collins was christened in Holly Trinity Church on 24 August 1869. At that time his father gave his occupation as 'labourer'.
Edwin's wife, Elizabeth Bulpett (Bulpit), was born in Lower Brook Street, Winchester on 18 August 1869. At that time her father James Bulpett was a fish dealer. Her mother, Louisa, maiden name was Dray. We believe her mother may have died during the 1870's.

The Edwin Collins' family lived at number 76 Middle Brook Street. This was the house where Edith Emily was born and just a few doors away from various other members of the Collins family.

Edith's father was a bricklayer's labourer when she was born and a builder when she married Alfred.
Edith's 1890 birth register entry
At some stage the family lived at the Sun Hotel. Before Edith married, there are tales of her getting out of the window late at night to visit dances etc. and also getting caught!
